CORE BOARD OF REPRESENTATIVES
AMURIN HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
LOGGED BY: T.DALIES
SUBJECT: CAF CMDR. JUN HOLONG PRESENTING TO BOARD
1: Present your statement, Commander Holong.
JH. Thank you. Ministers, members of the board, today is not a day to be sitting in hesitation or ponderance. Today is a day for action. A day to prove the worth of our position in this universe.
2: Your point, Mister Holong, is evading me.
3: As I.
1: Allow the man his words.
JH: As of this time one week ago, we intercepted a distress signal from a Confederacy vessel. A brief long range transmission with only 4 words picked up by our single specialists. Help, mayday, enemy, war. The intentions were unclear, but it is apparent to us, that a conflict within the universe has found us.
4: This is ludicrous!
2: The Confederacy has not approached us for assistance in military before, you’re suggesting they would now?
JH: I am.
1: Were these signals investigated, commander?
JH: A request to do such was forwarded to General Reynolds. This was denied.
4: Rightfully so, this is not a matter for the Core.
JH: A matter for the Core? No, not at all. A matter for our galaxy? I would argue that it most certainly is. This is about the two species that inhabit our universe. Are we to willingly sit by while our counterpart is destroyed? Are we to be content in knowing that we let the only other life to share the stars with us will be eradicated?
3: How do we know the danger posed?
2: You have provided no intelligence to back your claims, Commander.
JH: Each transmission we have received was short, scattered. Something is blocking these messages, not wanting us to find out what is happening in the Confederate sector.
1: And what would you propose as a course of action?
JH: I request to invoke constitutional act 15A, the direction for the Core Aviation Fleet to requisition full command of military forces to respond to a direct off-world threat.
4: This is no threat to us!
2: This is the Confederacy’s problem, not to mention the effect our presence would have would be minimal.
JH: Then why bother blocking communications to us? If this attacker believes us to be no threat, why go to the extra effort? Believe it or not, the Core is a universal power even when compared to the Confederacy, and we have the power to change the tides of war.
1: Then this shall pass to a vote. If such a danger is posed to our allies, I for one shall uphold that allegiance.
2: Let the Confederacy deal with their own problems, my answer is a nay.
3: And allow ourselves to lose such an invaluable ally and source of knowledge. I vote for.
4: I cannot believe we are discussing this! No war is worth the cost this shall take!
1: Then we are tied, save for you, Miss Jean. What would be your say.
5: The Core made its decision to take responsibility in the universe as soon as we ventured into the stars. You have my support, Commander Holong. Do with your emergency powers as you will.
4: Then you will doom our own people for the sake of theirs.
JH: All respect, councilmen, but I would not wish to live in a universe of empty stars.
1: You have your verdict, Commander. For all our sakes, I hope you use them well.
